Floating our Japanese arrivals in June 2007 in our enclosed quarantine facility after their 42 hour journey from Niigata to Tokyo, to Amsterdam, to Johannesburg, to arrive at 2 o' clock in the morning at Cape Town International . 1000 liter container for each of the five breeders, with heating facilities and a lot of oxygen and salt.
How did the fish survive after such a long journey??? A state of the art new product called Allfish that is placed inside the bag and produces oxygen during the trip, remove carbon dioxide and absorb vaporized ammonia as well, thus stabilizing the conditions and four gel packs per bag to keep the temperature at 12 degrees Celsius. Typical mud dam properly protected against Heron's and King fisher's, fully enclosed with bird netting. Purachina's ready for sale (5 - 7 cm) Stunning Kujaku's and Matsuba's just taken out of a mud dam. Baby Kohaku's by the thousands, ready for the third culling. Only about 20% of the hatch will eventually survive the culling process. Release of an Asagi into our mud dam until autumn when we will drag it.
